It's been a hundred years since the bombs fell. The world has been healing up from the catastrophic aftermath of a nuclear war between the humanoids and the sauroids: two races engraced with sapience, but blinded by hatred and intolerance, led up to the inevitable destruction of them both.

After the bombs fell, the few scraps of life that remained — being these the un-sapient things that lived in the sea and beneath the ground, and the humanoids and sauroids that hid in bunkers — straddled outside to be met with a destroyed carcass of what once was thriving civilization. A wasteland. A quasi-lifeless desert,  populated by some dry carcasses of trees and whatever  remained of the concrete jungles both the sauroids and the humanoids built.

But what was most fascinating was the effect radiation had on all of it.
The few remaining plants had evolved into shades of gray and brown, fitting the appearance of the rest of the land, with no more a shade of green. The little creatures who still prowled the post-nuclear land suffered fascinating (yet horrific) mutations: gruesomely merged with whatever organic carcasses of animals or people were laying around.
Most of the humanoids and sauroids that clinged onto life in the freshmade wasteland were turned into feral abominations, mutated and zomboid, with nothing but pain and hunger in mind. A carcass of what it once was.
The sapient ones who survived were the ones who found shelter in bunkers and nuclear shelters.

Now, a hundred years later, the radiation has lifted significantly, enough to support life outside the bunkers... considerably.
The land is still hostile, sharp and dangerous. If you don't die of exposition to radiation, you might just get gobbled by one of the freaks wandering around the land. Or, if you're a bit luckier, get robbed dry of everything you're carrying by scavs and raiders. If you're a bit less lucky, you'll get caught by cannibals.

This place is rough, and wants you dead. Strap up with spikes and explosives: Don't trust a single soul out here.
