The United Earth government is investing more and more in the exploration of habitable exoplanets: we are on Kangeron A14, a lush planet inhabited by fascinating megafauna very similar to some extinct species on Earth.

The colonization of this planet is like a gold rush. Everyone is fighting for their piece of success and prosperity in this new and promising land. Much of the most advanced technology is still imported from Earth and space stations (which are considerably distant), so settlements on the planet take on a more raw and primitive appearance, driven by the materials accessible on the planet itself: an intergalactic Wild West.

The local fauna is perfect for exploring in such a situation: animals similar to hadrosaurs, with a lot of fat and non-toxic meat for humans, are perfect as cattle, and several species are suitable for riding, making it easier to explore more inhospitable terrains.
